Islanders GM Garth Snow took his best shot, but failed to sign defenseman Christian Ehrhoff by his self-imposed 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline, and ended up trading the rights to the defenseman to the Sabres for a fourth-round pick in the 2012 NHL draft, according to an ESPN.com report.

Wisniewski's Rights Traded To Columbus

The Canadiens have traded the negotiating rights to James Wisniewski to the Blue Jackets for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2012 draft and future considerations. The defenseman is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Friday. He earned $3.25 million last season.

Wild Trade 2013 Pick To Flyers For Darroll Powe

The Wild acquired center Darroll Powe and tendered a qualifying offer to him and six other restricted free agents, according to an ESPN.com report. The moves were made Monday, four days before teams can begin negotiations with free agents from other teams. The Wild traded a third-round pick in the 2013 draft to the Flyers for Powe, a 26-year-old forward who led the club with 196 hits last season and set career highs with seven goals and 10 assists.

LA Acquires Fraser From Oilers For Smyth

The Kings have acquired forward Colin Fraser and a seventh-round draft choice in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Oilers in exchange for left wing Ryan Smyth, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today. Fraser, 26, played in 67 games this past season with the Oilers. He recorded five points and 60 penalty minutes. It was his first season in Edmonton after spending the previous four campaigns with Chicago, including the 2009-10 season when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup and Fraser recorded career-highs in goals (seven), assists (12) and points (19). Fraser has played in 224 career NHL regular season games. He has 41 points and 168 penalty minutes. He has also played in five career NHL postseason contests. He was originally selected by Philadelphia in the third-round (69th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft Smyth, 35, played in 82 regular season games with the Kings this past season, recording 47 points and 35 penalty minutes. He recorded two consecutive 20-plus goal seasons, 100 total points and 77 penalty minutes in 149 career regular season games with the Kings. Smyth has played in 1,069 career regular season games with the Kings, Colorado, New York Islanders and Edmonton, and has 760 points and 810 penalty minutes.

Rangers Trade Grachev To Blues For Draft Pick

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has traded forward Evgeny Grachev to the Blues in exchange for a third round draft pick, 72nd overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The Rangers selected forward Steven Fogarty with the pick. Fogarty, 18, skated in 24 games with the Edina Hornets of the Minnesota Boys High School Hockey League last season, registering 23 goals and 17 assists for 40 points, along with 12 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating. He established career-highs in goals, assists, points, plus/minus rating, power play goals (three), game-winning goals (four), and shorthanded goals (two). Fogarty led the Hornets in goals, points, plus/minus rating, game-winning goals, and shorthanded goals. He also tied for second in assists and third in power play goals. Grachev, 21, skated in 73 games with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL last season, registering 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points, along with 24 penalty minutes and a plus-21 rating. He also tallied two assists in six playoff contests with the Whale. The Khabarovsk, Russia native was originally selected as the Rangers' third round choice, 75th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The deal was finalized late Friday, after the first round of the NHL draft. The 32-year-old Campbell had 19 goals and 38 assists over three seasons with the Blackhawks.

In a surprising draft-night trade, the Wild acquired Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle and the 28th pick in the first round of Friday's draft for defenseman Brent Burns and a second-round pick in 2012. The deal gives the Sharks the topflight defenseman they had been seeking. The 26-year-old Burns had 17 goals and 29 assists last season.
